New Poll Gives Donnelly 3-Point Lead Over Mourdock

A new poll in the U.S. Senate race between Richard Mourdock and Joe Donnelly has the Democrat with a three-point lead over his challenger, but it is still within the margin or error.

The poll of 800 likely voters by the Global Strategy Group has Donnelly ahead 45-42 over Mourdock, 14% are still undecided  The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.5% and was taken between September 10 and 12.

That same poll also has Mitt Romney beating President Barack Obama 47-41, giving more credence to the belief that Mourdock’s campaign has not sealed the deal with those Lugar Republicans.

A previous Global Strategy poll gave Donnelly a 1-point lead over Mourdock.

Most other polls also show the race as virtually tied, including Mourdock’s own internal polls.
