Labor: “We’re Not Dead Yet”

Despite some setbacks at the state level, local labor leaders tell Indy Politics that they are not done fighting for working families, but they do admit they have to make some changes as to how they do battle.
Buck Johnson is the business manager of the UA Local 440 plumbers and pipe fitters union. At an appreciation picnic for his members Johnson says union membership is increasing, albeit work is slow.
He adds that recent new events like the Chicago Teachers strike and court ruling regarding collective bargaining in Wisconsin shows unions are still necessary.
Johnson also says that unions need to do a better job of getting their message out to the non-union public and how they benefit from unions. You can hear his comments below. They run 7 minutes.
