They’re Still Tied

A new Howey Politics/DePauw University Battleground Poll shows while Republicans Mitt Romney and Mike Pence have solid double digit leads over Democrats Barack Obama and John Gregg, Richard Mourdock is still running neck and neck with Joe Donnelly.
The poll put out this morning shows Mourdock slightly behind Donnelly by 40-38. Libertarian Andy Horning is coming in at 7%. Contrast that to Romney-Obama, 52-40 and Pence-Gregg, 47-34. Libertarian Rupert Boneham comes in with 5%.
Some other items of note from the poll.

- Mourdock wins 60% of Lugar supporters compared to Romney’s 82%.
- Nearly two-thirds of those surveyed said they have never of John Gregg or have no opinion of him.
- The poll shows no gender gap between Pence and Gregg. Pence has a 13-point lead with both men and women.
The poll of 800 likely voters was taken September 19, 20 and 23. The poll had the following political breakdown: 43% Republican or Republican leaning, 38% Democrat or Democratic leaning. 19% called themselves independent.
