And the Winner Was…

Although Democrat Joe Donnelly and Republican Richard Mourdock declined to calls themselves the winner following tonight’s U.S. Senate debate, their campaigns were quick declare victory in post debate e-mails.
The two debated with Libertarian Andrew Horning for an hour at the WFYI studios near downtown Indianapolis.
Both appealed to “Lugar Republicans” moderates whom many believe will decide this election.
Donnelly stressed a theme of bi-partisanship and gave a lot of praise to outgoing Senator Lugar. Mourdock’s strategy was to paint Donnelly as someone who voters could not trust and would support the President’s agenda. Horning used both opponents as a reason that voters dump the status quo.
Immediately after the two camps put out press releases declaring their side had won.
